The report said the issue does not stem from managers not caring about feedback, but because they were never taught how to give and get feedback.

“They also don’t get opportunities to practice getting and giving feedback well, so they are learning the hard way – hard for them and for their employees,” the report read.

Challenges in an organisation’s culture of feedback can lead to hardships in AI adoption, according to the report.

“The more we automate, the more we need managers who can build a culture of feedback so that employees will speak up when they notice AI getting things wrong, share ideas for how to use AI to be more efficient and, most importantly, use AI to create whole new products or lines of business,” the report read.

It stressed that teaching feedback skills is best practice because feedback needs to happen across the organisation.
