HR roles hit in latest round of Disney cuts

Later reports in July 2026 indicated that Disney also cut several hundred people in corporate functions across Pixar, ESPN, Disney Entertainment Television and Disney’s studios.
Disney had 231,000 employees as of the end of fiscal 2025, according to Deadline’s report. This included 172,000 employees in the US and 59,000 elsewhere.
The media industry in the US has announced 4,908 job cuts so far in 2026, according to Challenger, Gray & Christmas data. Overall, there have been 529,914 job cuts to the end of August 2026, down 41% from the 892,362 cuts announced in the first eight months of 2025.
