HR skills, such as employee engagement and employee management, are among the most sought-after skill sets, according to a report from Indeed Hiring Lab, as they tend to be valuable across an organization. Among business operations skills, HR skills came in third place overall, following customer service skills and administrative skills.

The percentage of workers who told Isolved that they lost at least five hours of work per week to inefficient systems or processes. This “death by a thousand pings” — which can include payroll or scheduling platform problems — could threaten overall worker engagement if not addressed, Isolved said in its report.

Employers may be shifting to “always on” pay conversations, according to Payscale, as opposed to the typical set-it-and-forget-it style that pervades most organizations. Workers have more access to compensation information than ever before, driving these conversations. Pay transparency laws are also prompting changes to how employers discuss pay.
